Street Fighter Alpha

Posted by NewgroundSage - September 16th, 2012

So far the Street Fighter games on my celebratory lists is slowly starting to come down but is still pretty far along the upcoming release date of Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Edition Set to release in two days on September 18th. To be festive with the successful years of a game that became not only a fellow contributor of the fighting genre and a fighting series of it own right its also became a mainstay within both gamers and the public masses of society. If you blurt out or utter a single mention of Street Fighter II or any of the other games of the series for that manner people are going to know what your talking about. To continue on where we left off previously I've made mention of Street Fighter back from 1987 and its infamous notorious sequel from March of 1991. the came a series that redefined it and actual became just as large of a cult following and made Street Fighters of us all! The next entry to the series is non other than Street Fighter Alpha series and it spans in the games continuity in Street Fighter's fictional timeline between the events of Street Fighter and Street Fighter 2. Alphas (in timeline terms) is a sequel after the first tournament ended and sets itself up to the following events to Street Fighter 2. The games give more backstory and introduces new characters that will become a mainstay in future titles. There were three titles in Alpha. 1. Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors Dream 2. Street Fighter Alpha 2 and finally Street Fighter Alpha 3. The Alpha series introduced brand new characters and used the same gameplay commodities like the combo feature used in its predecessor Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Not only did the series featured younger version of well known fighters like Ryu, Chun-Li, etc But also introduced a few Final Fight characters of Final Fight fame and of course new characters to introduce in the roster. The series were well known throughout arcades and on various home consoles. Street Fighter Alpha is still one of the most talked about Street Fighter classics to have ever graced many generations from young to old throughout the 90's. It was rereleased at the time for PS2 users as Street Fighter Alpha Anthology. Not only did this home consoled remake came with all three games but also had more content by two methods! The first is Street Fighter Alpha 3 had limited characters depending on the version. In portable versions of Alpha 3 extra character and remixed soundtracks were introduced. While in SF: Anthology, Alpha 3 had the regular and a harder version of the game called "Alpha 3 Upper" which has many of the unlockable characters ready for use in this version. The second feature that makes the game unique for any collector is the inclusion of a secret hidden game that can be played at anytime called "Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix" which at the time of it's release here in the U.S for the PS1 it was infamously named "Pocket Fighter". The game consisted many regular well known familiar faces of the Street Fighter cast in a super deformed style (basically looking like goofy chibi versions of themselves). Its a puzzle based fighting games since the game mixes elements from a few other Capcom games like Darkstalkers, Red Earth and of course Street Fighter Alpha. The game has many special appearances from various Street Fighter and other Capcom based cameos. Street Fighter Alpha is a must have for any Street Fighter fan there's no exception to me. And nobody will feel disappointed in the games storyline nor the graphics and fighting system that's both awesome and challenging to master. Only two more games to name and two more days for the big opening for Street Fighter Anniversary Edition Sets! Stay tuned!
