Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star.

Posted by NewgroundSage - February 7th, 2011

Fist of the North Star is embedded in most of the entertaining world yet for those that aren't familiar here is a bit of amusing trivial history. Fist of the North Star first originated as a manga that spans over 245 chapters through 1983 to 1988. Along the sucess of the series it was also turned into a television series back in 1984 made under the production of Toei. The whole series in general were know for its graphical depiction of violence. (The television series were know to be more graphic than the manga to a certain extent and it was originally made for audiacnes that were nine and up in that time) Most of the stories are centered on the central character Kenshiro who in appearance looks like cross between Bruce Lee and Mad Max of the Road Warrior movie arcs, He's given the nickname "The man with the seven scars". Kenshiro is the succesor of a fictional martial art known as Hokuto Shinken which is an assassin based art that utilises the 708 pressure points of the human body. Its style and usage can be both to heal and in most offensive actions to destroy. When this style is used the victims die horrible, grotesque, grisly deaths, In terms it destroys from within. Kenshiro is the successor of Hokuto Shinken along with 3 brothers, They contend very fiercely for the right to be heir to the art. Only can be chosen due to the style's deadly potential by the art's law. One master passes it on to one student out in every generation. Kenshiro was the chosen successor. The whole series is based in a post apocalyptic setting where gangs and theives thrive over the land and over the weak. Kenshiro protects the innocent and punishes those that cause havok and villany. Kenshiro meets many friends and enemies over his travels while trying to find his eldest brother Raoh his nemesis. Besides the successes of the manga and animes there were a whole bunch of merchandise of the series along the line of video games. The newest entry to the series is Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage that is made and developed by Koei the same creators that brough a bunch of Dynasty Warriors games. Fist of the North Star is one of my personal favorite series around and hopefully you might take interest as well after reading this post. Until next time fellow Newgrounders. See you!

So...
Is it any good? :)

I say it is if you look past the over the top violence, I love it besides the crazy fictional martial arts involved I really trully enjoy the story above all else. You have a man name Kenshiro who in a post apocalyptic setting is fighting to survive and protecting others who are less fortunate themselves. I see myself as that kind of person. I lend my hand to those that need my help and valiantly do it with no questions asked. Not only does he take down a bunch of fiends but he also searches for his three brothers of the fictional martial art "Hokuto Shinken" which only one of them is allowed to possess the style and pass it on it is the law of the arts. Kenshiro was fortunatley the chosen successor of the style.

hey, it sounds like a good movie! is it?

I know its a late response but yeah there are a few good Fist of the North Star movies. I don't recommend the live action ones though.
